I am pleased to present my new monochrome painting series ‘S.A.L.T.’ in a solo exhibition at the Châteu de Monboucher in Lamonzie Saint Martin in France, which is a cooperation project between the HMH gallery on Mallorca and the castle in France, which serves as a special exhibition venue and also offers an artist-in-residence programme.
The Château de Monboucher is located in the Dordogne/Périgord region, the ‘heart of France’, around 80 kilometres from Bordeaux and is surrounded by a 23-hectare park.

I worked there in August and September 2024 as an artist in residence and developed a new series of paintings with the salt of the region. The 30 monochrome colour field paintings, which are mostly presented in groups of 3 or 4 works, go back to the origins of my salt technique and reflect the colour tones of the sky, the water and the red wine of the Dordogne.

Each work is kept in a different colour tone of the palette and is given depth and spatiality with a velvety matt surface through the multi-layered nature of the different pigment glazes.

I am very proud that I have created a lively depth in simplicity with this colour field painting, which has brought me a little closer to my professor Bodo Baumgarten, whose master student I became in 2002.

After the exhibition, a selection of works will remain on the estate as a permanent exhibition.
